Under a year ago ‘Dogfight Revolution’ emerged onto the Midlands music scene to project their spiralling drone rock sound onto a backdrop of eastern mystics and psychedelic influence.
The four piece’s sound has evolved from a fusion of influences (Syd Barrett, Velvet Underground, Primal Scream, Brian Jonestown Massacre, Spacemen 3, 13th Floor Elevators, Jesus & Mary Chain, Verve) that have laid the foundation on which they have built their sound. Guitars, drums and bass are joined by drone machine, theremin, synth, Indian percussion and flute and the DFR are ready to convert you…

A storming performance in the G Factor Final saw teenage band Shadowplay win a dream gig supporting The Enemy.
The Coventry indie-rock teenagers beat off competition from around 150 entries!

From Barnsley, West Yorkshire; Exit Calm are mentored by Coventry music manager John Dawkins, who helped take The Enemy to Number One, and with The Verve’s Nick McCabe as a reported number one fan, it’s no surprise that this vital and credible four-piece have been made a hot tip to break through in 2008.
“Exit Calm are so far out in front of the rest of the competition at present it's frightening. In fact, you can almost imagine bands forming in their wake as we speak” – Drowned in Sound.

The original drain-piped models and car boot purveyors of the NY style badge t-shirts proclaiming “I HEART COV”.
Proudly C.O.V The Ripps are currently recording their second album with local 2-Tone and Grammy Award winning producer Roger Lomas and early tracks suggest a more socially aware dub/ska infusion into their debut album’s pop/punk sound.

They’ve been established headliners at venues such as the Kasbah for some time and local boys Pint Shot Riot are already making waves outside their home town after rave reviews from the likes of Radio One, The Sun, The Star and The Fly and last year’s major festival debut at Glastonbury.
“It seems The Enemy aren’t the only Coventry band loaded with jam records and fizzling with youthful rage” – Q Magazine.
Details to follow

At the end of the 90s Nottingham based Six. By Seven were regarded as one of the most exciting new names in UK guitar based music after the release of their first single 'European Me' which the NME described as one of the greatest debut singles of all time and touring with the likes of Ash, The Manic Street Preachers, Placebo and The Dandy Warhols. Though mainstream success eluded them they built up a massive underground following and huge critical acclaim from fellow musicians.
In 2002 (the year the NME described them as the best live band in Briton) they wowed the crowds at Godiva, and now reformed with their original line-up, they’re here to do it again.

The Displacements“Name that conjures up images of small town alienation? Come on, then swagger? Hard-Fi-style terrace-chant harmonies? Oasis/Verve producer Owen Morris making the guitars sound bigger than a house? Yep, Leicester’s The Displacements tick every requirement for ladrock success.” – NME
“Hotly tipped for 2008, The Displacements look set to be the ones to watch out for in the coming months” - Drowned in Sound

Tipped for the top by Alan McGee, the man who discovered Oasis, Glasvegas are one of the hottest new bands in the UK. After a major label bidding war the Glasgow four-piece, who’ve only released limited edition singles so far, signed to Columbia in February and then won the prestigious Philip Hall Radar Award at the NME awards two weeks later. Previous winners include Franz Ferdinand and Kaiser Chiefs.
Their live performance is fifties Rock ‘n’ Roll brought right up to date with large helpings of the Jesus and Mary Chain’s feedback. If Phil Spectre were ever to produce an in-house shoegaze band then this is what it would sound like.
Glasvegas are set to release their much anticipated debut album, recorded in New York, in late summer.
Art BrutDespite critical acclaim in the States and a deal with EMI; despite worldwide festival appearances and opening for Oasis (Liam’s a fan, as are Graham Coxon, Pete Doherty, Bez and that kid who played Harry Potter); Art Brut remain beautifully, crucially underground.
A band of English eccentrics fronted by vocalist Eddie Argos (an ex-goth obsessed with Jonathan Richman and Vincent Van Gogh) sounding like a mixture of Half Man Half Biscuit, Pulp and The Fall.

They were once just faces in the crowd watching the bands at Godiva.
Then The Enemy went from local unknown festival openers in 2006 to making history in July 2007 playing at home to 5,000 ecstatic fans just hours before their debut album was confirmed as a UK Number One; the only Coventry band ever to achieve the feat. In August 2007 they supported The Rolling Stones on the last date of their UK tour at the O2 Arena in London.
Now in July 2008 they return as local heroes and one of the biggest bands in the country; winners of the “Best New Act” award from Q Magazine, “Best New Band” award from the NME and “Best British Debut Album” from XFM, to perform in front of the biggest Godiva Festival audience ever.
