Production Diary - Part 5 (2nd July)
Evening all….
…I am really excited this evening about the festival beginning. The site is beginning to shape up really really nicely. Today has been so hot it was unreal. All the talk is of the impending bad weather this weekend - but i’m confident it won’t hit us. I think we are due to have a really scorching hot Godiva this year - so remember these three golden rules: Wear Suncream, Wear a Hat and Stay Hydrated…. oh yes and HAVE FUN!
So today has been packed - here’s what’s been happening onsite:
The mainstage is now complete, lighting and sound are installed and we’re all ready for bands to start arriving tomorrow. Hats off to the technical guys, it’s been a tough build in this heat but they have pulled a blinder and done a great job.
The bars have now all been installed and the deliveries of a vast array of beverages have begun to arrive onsite.
Our electricians have been working hard in the blistering sunshine to ensure that power is flowing where ever it is needed.
The traders and caterers have been pouring onto site ready to inspire your shopping and tickle your taste buds.
We’ve had delivery of our MASSIVE inflatable men (who we think are very cool) - see http://www.twitter.com/godivafestival for pictures.
Several thousand bottles of water have arrived onsite to keep us all refreshed over the weekend.
Toilets, toilets, toilets have streamed (no pun intended…. really) into the park.
Branding has started going up, sponsors are arriving and the glossy festival brochures (complete with fantastic offers) have been delivered….
…..and the weather has been glorious.
This time tomorrow we’ll be drawing to the close of the first evening of Godiva 2009 - hard to believe really.
I’ll be upping the amount of blog and twitter action over the coming days to keep you abreast of all the news from the festival site. Until then, have a fantastic festival. Stay safe, look after each other, have fun, be cool, laugh, smile, dance, sing and ENJOY the GODIVA FESTIVAL 2009…..
Until tomorrow….
…Chris out.
xx
P.S. - at one point today the thermometer was showing 35 degrees…. surely that can’t be right!
